Once again the time had come to decide whether it was time to throw in the towel and get a "regular job" or pursue the dream she had been chasing. Anyone and everyone who was willing and able was called in to help and after a long arduous three months of rebuilding the store reopened even better than before. It wasn't long before old "Mrs. Bissett's" farmhouse became too small for us; especially on Customer Appreciation Night!! We enjoyed almost ten years of serving the community in the old building and had many good times and made many good friends there. This is certainly not where the story ends though; in January 2006 Maryann got to realize another dream she had always had when the doors were opened on her very own building at 1106 Cole Harbour Road. The new building is as cozy and warm as the old one though much larger with almost twice the retail space and much more office and storage space.
This has been not only a job and a means of supporting herself but a labour of love and a true family affair. Maryann had strong support from her family from the very beginning and now has the same from her employees which are all like an extended family. Sometimes it is hard to believe this large modern building that houses what has become a fixture in Cole Harbour and employs fifteen staff started out as one little girl driving back and forth to the flea market.
Maryann knows how lucky she is to have been able to live this dream and she also knows that without the help of everyone along the way there is no way it would have ever happened. What she also should know is what an honour it was for us to be a part of helping her get here.
Well; that's the story; for now anyway........................
Scott.
